Hi all,
this is a method to positioning light in the canvas…where you want.
Fig.1) Drawn a sphere 3D (the object to illuminate)
Fig.2) reate a second layer
Fig.3) Drawn a sphere3D on second layer and …
Fig.4) …Position it where you want the light source
Fig. 5) Open the light palette and create a new light (only Point, Spot or Glow works with this method). Select light color and intensity. Then click on “P” button and drag on canvas over the second sphere (orange line). Now your light is at the right position.
Fig.6) Press Best render…
Fig.7) …and you can see the result.
Now you can delete the second layer.
That’s all.
Why not a zscript ?? Because i have tried to do one, but don’t works well (the drag and drop don’t work within zscript).
Hi,
Andreseloy: thank you.
Froyd: it’s not my idea (i want to be precise and exact ;))…it came from Pixologic There is also a script written by Digit to automate the process…Pilou will help with the correct link (i hope).
Thanks Cameyo, I never really understood how to get the light positioned in a special place. Now I get the idea, as always thanks for your insight. No matter how long I am here I will always be a newbie.
Thank you Cameyo, this is the best I have gotten so far to date. This is the first time, the very first time, I see a hint of light being cast onto the person … forgive the model, she is a WIP right now, but needed to see how it works with a person.
You can see that she does have orange casted on her cheeks and some on her eye sockets, although it is very light.
Now a few questions (promise only a few, a promise I am hoping I can keep). I did the best render, as you can see below. I just have not yet deleted the second layer with the sphere 3d on it. Because it is not exactly what I am wanting.
One question: There seems to be still sun light, as I can see the rest of her AND the point light on her face (vaguely).
I only want to see the point light on her face. And I want to see more of the point light. So these are two questions. How do I get rid of the “sun light” (the one that makes me see all of her), and how do I make the point light spread darker and more across her face.
My settings for the point light are
Intensity = 2
Ambient = 17
I “placed” the light like you would an eyeball in a model. I did nothing with the numbers in Placement in the light pallette. Is this my problem?
Here is what it looks like without the second layer deleted.
Remember, I just started this model.
I would show you all my settings as you did in your tutorial (which is the best I have seen), but every time I have tried to do that, I hit CTRL and drag it to the screen (the settings), but it never shows up on an exported image (the one you would get here).
Please let me know what I am doing wrong.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! No matter what happens, this is the very first time a point light has casted anything onto a face.
